Digital Media Services is looking for Digital Peer Consultants to work with students on their digital media assignments on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm during peak periods (FALL: 10/20/25 to 12/5/25 | SPRING: 3/9/26 to 5/8/26) in the IMAGINE Lab located in Stein 134. Peak periods are the busiest times for digital storytelling assignments and projects during the semester, typically aligned with major coursework deadlines. Digital Peer Consultant appointments are 45 minutes long. Consultants will also accept walk-ins when they do not have scheduled appointments. Reliability and punctuality is critical to this role.
Digital Peer Consultants will work with students at any stage in the digital storytelling process: ideation, pre-production, production, or post-production. They will also assist with basic Adobe application support for Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. During appointments, you'll use your training to help students brainstorm projects, offer editing advice, and demonstrate Adobe tool basics as needed.
Students will be trained on digital storytelling basics, specific Adobe application basics, and media editing techniques.
This is a great opportunity to build your technical skills, gain experience in peer mentorship, and deepen your knowledge of digital storytelling tools and practices.
Responsibilities:
Digital Peer Consultant hours will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm to 4:00pm during peak periods (FALL: 10/20/25 to 12/5/25 | SPRING: 3/9/26 to 5/8/26).
The position(s) will cover the following shifts:
Tuesdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm (3 hours)
Thursdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm (3 hours)
Check in students for Digital Peer Consultant appointments.
As related to your Digital Media Services (DMS) training, provide students with best practices, feedback, and technical support during their appointment.
If questions go beyond your training, refer students to DMS staff.
Direct students in IMAGINE Lab to resources as needed.
Send a brief end-of-shift summary email to DMS staff noting your activities.
Qualifications:
Required:
Responsible and punctual.
Genuine interest in digital storytelling, video, or digital media.
Preferred:
Basic understanding of composition and framing
Prior digital media-related experience is a plus.
Familiarity with or experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
Customer service or peer mentoring experience.
